Four researchers from the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University have been granted $500,000 to study the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) impact on food systems.

Professor Jonathan Crush, whose specialty is geography and environmental studies, is heading the team working from the Balsillie School of International Affairs.

They will be studying the impact of mass quarantines, including at Wuhan and Nanjing in China.

Their funding comes from the National Institute of Health Research. The project is expected to take two years.
