More pigs than ever

Breeding inventory was up by one per cent to 6.41 million

The United States has more pigs than at any point since 1954.

Total inventory of hogs and pigs on June 1, 2019, was 75.5 million head, up by four per cent from June 1, 2018, and up by one per cent from March 1, 2019.

Breeding inventory was up by one per cent to 6.41 million from the previous quarter.

Market hog inventory, 69.1 million head, was up by four per cent from last year, and up by one per cent from the previous quarter.
