There was little change in the latest USDA Cattle on Feed report as the overall inventory rose only slightly from a year ago.
The report shows there were 11.8 million head of cattle and calves on feed for slaughter in large US feedlots as of Mar. 1 barely higher than on the same day last year.
Producers placed 1.71 million head on feed during February, a drop of eight per cent from the previous year.
Marketings of fed cattle during February totaled 1.78 million head, up five per cent.
