Ladybird chickens are proving so popular that Wayne Farms is expanding production and market reach to include foodservice and cash and carry customers.

The birds are smaller, are more mature when they reach market weight and are therefore more tasty and they are more consistent in size which makes processing more efficient.

They were launched as a pilot project and proved so popular with customers and Wayne Farms is expanding production.

Wayne Farms is a subsidiary of Continental Grain, has 11 processing facilities in Southeastern United States and sales of about $2 billion per year, ranking it seventh among U.S. poultry companies.
