It is for research into crop diseases
The Ontario agriculture ministry is giving $1.3 million to the University of Guelph for research into crop diseases.
The projects include:
- blight of field tomatoes;
- onion thrips’ threat to greenhouse flowers’
- fusarium mould in wheat;
- sugar beet management approaches that reduce disease losses, and
- grape rootstock to improve winterhardiness.
There is also funding for research into year-round potato production.
