Mexico asks Canadians to try new oats

Mexico’s largest oats importer wants Canadian farmers to try new varieties and to grow organic oats.

Jorge Sanchez, chief financial officer of Mexico’s Corporativo Grupo Vida Internacional, said Canadian farmers need to “adapt to changing growing conditions” to capitalize on global markets which are increasing by 4.4 per cent per year.

“These seeds must be adaptable to global weather trends,” he said.

Canadians should grow oats organically without using glyphosates and other pesticides, he said.
